Oh Dior, Galliano. . .

Designer John Galliano, 50, has been arrested as well as sacked from fashion giant Christian Dior, after shocking footage was this week released of the creative genius verbally attacking a couple with highly offensive, anti-semitic and racist remarks.

As shown in the footage from Ten News, Galliano mentions his love of Hitler, before going on to insult further: "I love Hitler. People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers would all be f**king gassed."
This appalling revelation left face of Dior perfume, and recently awarded best actress for her performance in Black Swan, Natalie Portman "shocked and disgusted", and has stated she wants nothing to do with Galliano. She said: "As an individual who is proud to be Jewish, i will not be associated with Mr Galliano in any way."

Jewish student, Hannah Clarke, said she was appalled that someone associated with such a big designer would be so careless when expressing his "disgusting anti-semitic thoughts". She stated: "Galliano offended and upset a lot of people, not just Jews, with his behaviour. As a fan of the latest fashions it has definitely made me think twice about any of Dior's products. I do however feel they dealt with the situation correctly in firing him immediately."

Fashion industry colleagues have been quick to defend the designer, with Giorgio Armani being quoted in the New York Post as saying: “Poor, John. He didn’t know he was being filmed.”

Is that really the point though? Sex and the City stylist Patricia Field labeled the outburst as merely "Theatre", before going on to blame it primarily on 'The booze".

So is this the way we're going to start justifying abusive behaviour from now on? With a "Oh dear, never mind" attitude and a turned back?

What do you think?
